Organising Committee of the Ilinden International Sailing Regatta

Danube's Championship 2011 Micro Class, Zemun - Belgrade, Serbia

The Championship has finished and our sailing teams are back with a lot of impressions and one more regatta successfully done. The competition was strong, there were 22 sail boats from 5 countries : Serbia, Macedonia, Monte Negro, Slovenia and Romania.

The wind conditions were good. The first day, we sailed only one navigation regatta due to the lack of wind, but the other two days were very good for sailing.
The official results are the following :

European Championship 2011 Laser 4.7 in Workum, the Netherlands

The Championship will last until 14th of july. The first 4 days are qualifications (8 races) and the last 2 days (4 races) are the finals in the 4 different groups.
Official review to the first 2 sailing days :

Sunday 10 July - day 2:
15.25: girls fleets are coming in. It just started raining.
Boys still on the water.
All races started in time. 10 knots.
Steady water - Track and Trace is used. It is busy on the site as well in the tent: the races can be followed on screens.

Saturday 9 July - day 1:
The  first race was postponed for 2 hours due to very strong winds. When going on the water the wind speed dropped to about 5 knots.
When starting, fortunately, we had good winds - about 16 knots - difficult waves.
We managed to sail the 2 scheduled races

Brief Introduction

The Sailing Club rich history began in the distant 1947 when it was established by a small group of sailing enthusiasts. These devoted sailors began with a small fleet of wood made sailboats. Later developments had made the sailing club to have its own sailboats construction workshop, where the first certified Olympic class "Jola" sailboat was constructed.

The first "Stela's" were introduced in 1956, when sailing started to be one of the most dominant sports practiced in Ohrid and when three-day regattas called "Around the Lake" took place.

The boat Club, as many other ones, had its upward and downward trends. In 1978, the Club was modernized by supplying new fiberglass sailboats ("Lasers" and "Optimists") and the traditional Ilinden Regatta was restored. The club participated in and hosted many national sailing championships and international regattas in which many sailing clubs from all around Europe took place.

This year the Club will be host to the 43 ILINDEN INTERNATIONAL SAILING REGATTA.
